Hi

Anyone ridden the Fly 10' care to feedback?

Also keen to hear how it compares to the likes of the Starboard Drive 10'5 and Element 9'8 (all three are 30" wide)

Cheers

I'd be very interested in this as well. JB is now a rider for fanatic and there is a mob here in Perth that sells them, so someone should know.

The video footage on the site looks like the board is quite twitchy - wants to go, but to get someones opinion of it vs a Starboard drive would be awesome.

They are quite light by all reports, which is likely a good thing.

cheers

Simon at Boardcrazy in Brisbane is about to import a whole heap of Fanatic SUPs. I would seriously consider one if the reviews are good. I have a 10'5" starboard which is a tad too big in the surf - still a heap of fun. The 9'6" or 10' Fanatic look interesting candidates for my next and smaller SUP.
All comparisons gratefully recieved.

I've had a quick session on the 10' Fly, and probably the best way to describe it is Fun & Easy!

For only 30" wide (for it's place in the market), it's really stable to paddle, but more so on a wave. Ease of use is up there with 31+" boards. The board has a really smooth long board style to it, with really easy nose riding. A friend who came paddling with us has only paddled once before and she was getting waves and having a ball straight away. Didn't get much chance to drive the tail as the waves were pretty small, but the odd hit I got was pretty impressive.

As usual I would like to toy with some fin set ups.

Weight is really good, and the deck is clean with a good grip, especially if your going to be climbing on and off frequently, and the board is well balanced.

Paddling speed wasn't mind blowing, however I didn't miss any waves while I was riding it, so probably in line with any 10' x 30-33" board. But once on a wave the board has nice speed with smooth acceleration.

I'm looking forward to trying the 10'6" also.

If I get another session in decent waves, I'll post some pics or Vid. Definitely book in for a demo cause I guarantee you'll have fun on this baby.

I love both the 10' & 10'6" for our conditions in Sumner.

Tried the 10'Fanatic up at Lancelin on the weekend with Phil and the boys from WA surf in Safety Bay.
Very stable, tracks well with paddling 3-4 strokes on each side. I didn't get a chance to try it on the wave as the surf was large and closing out and left hand (for a gumby surfer like me, I need right hand at the moment - my backhand really sucks)
Comparing it to the Starboard 10'5 it felt like it has slightly more glide, but otherwise a very similar board. The rocker looks and feels the same. The most noticeable difference it is significantly lighter, you feel this when paddling and it gives the sensation of less effort and perhaps this translates to run? don't know.

It is finished very well - this was the timber finish. Would like to try it on a wave.

Thanks to Phil for organising the weekend - I notice he has a session at Avalon beach this weekend - check it out - nice guy and very passionate about SUP.
