This winter has been nearly non-stop energy in Northern California.

Pillar Point, the prominence that creates Mavericks, serves up the energy and when clean can be foiled but you need big, fast gear.

Here is a quick clip from last month's highlights.

I used to attack this bigger stuff with 'barn door' style boards. A 7'4" x 31" 125 liter board. I could take off late and surf down the face until things calmed down then fly. I am now riding this 10' x 23" @ 153 liter downwind shape. Ideally I get in early and fly away from the detonation and then ride the swell downwind style. Ironically there are times when my 10' board feels too short and slow to catch the swell. More to come.

Axis 1070 fireball, 30 skinny tail, 700 mm fuse, 90 UHM mast.

Glad you're getting some. We have had consistent surf here too. Thanks for including the dismounts in your clips. We all have them but not all are on record.
