How much fun was that out there today hey?
I saw you get some great downwind runs with the wing just floating and I got a few beauties myself.
I purposely did a screaming downwind run to see what speed I could get. Ended up in a high speed breach and stack ??
Only to get in and discover my gps was off.

We did a time trial GPS race in Hawaii Kai last week, the goal was to complete 3 miles in the shortest total time, my best time was 10 minutes, average speed was 17.6 mph= 28.3 kph

I was using a 5'2 Blue Planet Carver foilboard, Levitaz shaka foil with 96 cm mast, 4M Duotone wing.
My max speed was higher (23 mph= 37 kph) during my first three runs using a 5M Duotone but I was not able to complete the 3 miles without falling in smooth water with strong offshore wind, around 15-25 knots. Using a 4M wing was easier to control so although top speed was a little lower I was able to finish without falling in, resulting in the fastest average time on the 3 mile course.

Nice, what was your peak speed? 36.7 is a quick 2 sec, good 10 sec too!

Hey JB,

My max speed was 41.5km/h.
Recorded using an iPhone on the Waterspeed app.
These stats are from my first one hour session before the wind went ballistic!!
Thinking i'll try a smaller thinner tail wing next to gain a little more speed out of my current setup.
Stoked with the range on that 3.6m S25 wing, held together rock solid in some serious storm gusts yesterday!!

But Alex is a legend so could be legit. Would like to see the footage to see either side of the peak.

On another note, I was speaking with some of the Windsurfers yesterday, and they asked why we talk KMH and not KN. Maybe a change to KN is needed to be relevant to the Windsurfers??

It sounds faster and we need all the help we can get

at least that's only 2 options, in hang gliding we used to measure height in feet , speed in knots, distance travelled in kilometers and lift and sink rate in feet per minute ...... at least Lift/ sink has now changed to meters/ sec

This was speed on a wave.

It was windy and lumpy.

A bit of speed winging today in the westerly. My goal was to get over 45kmh, which I am stoked to have done on 2 runs. Now to start working on getting to 50kmh.



Best 20sec was 41.4kmh, Best 10sec was 43.5kmh, Best 5sec was 44.1kmh and Best 2sec was 44.9 kmh.

Riding the Naish Hover 110 and Naish Kite 810 foil with 280HA rear on the std fuselage (64cm) and 75cm mast (wish it was deeper on the lake so I could have gone 85cm), powered with the S25 Wing-Surfer 3.6m.
