Anyone tried Surfears ear plugs?

They are pretty expensive but once I get water in my ears surfing, I can't hear a thing - happy to pay up if they work.

I've personally used these which appear to be a clone of the 2nd generation surfears, but they don't have the wing.

I didn't like how shallow they set in your ears. Having earplugs in and walking down the beach with normal hearing is a weird sensation. After a couple duckdives it's not as clear as when you're on the beach. I lost one after a fall dropping into an overhead wave. Went back to normal earplugs and haven't missed them.

I do need some new plugs though so I might give one of these guys a try.

I have used surf ears and they are good, they stay in and don't impair your hearing too bad. They let air and sound in so you don't have that blocked ear feeling.

I have already had 1 ear drilled out from surfers ear! Definitely worth not going through that again!!

Hey YB, so do you still use the Surfears & do you think they are worth $75? or should I just grab some of the cheaper option like Hdip posted ??

I have been using the 3.0 for about 4 months much better fit than the 2.0. I find they are worth every cent. Haven't had a ear infection for years since using I started using the 2.0. I highly recommend

I'm 58yo and have been in the ocean all my life - I've just went under the knife from having surfers ear I've been putting this operation off for the last 20 years because I could not afford to have time out of the water. The doctor drilled into my ear 5 weeks ago - I know my body and it heals quickly after 3 weeks of the surgery the doctor gave me the all clear, "saying your one in like 100 that heals quickly," you are clear to go back into the water "STOKED" my ear is 100% healed with No issues.

I have used the Surf ears 2.0 and were the best "standard" ones I tried because they are the most customizable. I ended using them with quite a different setting for my left and right ear, and this shows the need for plugs to be customisable for a lot of people.

But I quickly went to the ultimate: custom plugs molded to your ear with a kind of goretex vent added to them for keeping a good hearing and balance. This is not cheap, (more than 170 euros), but the fitting is perfect, no chafing even after hours of session, no stress points, and they sit against a wide part of the ear, so you can fall flat on your ear at high speed without any worries, which is invaluable for foiling or hollow waves. I started wearing earplugs after piercing my eardrum on a wipeout, and reaching 50% exostosis.

Well Well I guess they are worth it, i have bought a couple pairs as I have misplaced them one time. I have never had earplugs that work as well as these.

Definitely quite pricey though

I had a pair of surf ears but then I dropped them in the car park and drove over them! Just been using $8 pairs from my local swimming centre and thread some silicon string on them. Just as good.

Im on my second pair of surf ears, ran over the first in the carpark too.....

comfy, easy to hear through, would recommend them. The third generation do feel better than the second

Ive had my ear drilled out twice now looking to avoid a third. Definitely notice the difference if i forget to put them in when its cold

$75 is much cheaper than one visit to the ENT

I have used first-generation surfears and they are very good, but not worth the price to me because I will definitely lose them. I use a variety of the cheaper options, I can post up them up later. The cheap Amazon servers work well, but if the black cover comes off they become a funnel for water into your ears. I prefer the cheap solid options, even though the impair your hearing a bit
