Here's a few fun ones from Sunday's Foil Bay Session. It was soo tiny, but the Hover 120 and Thrust Surf Large made easy work of it and gave me some fun glides.

James is on the GoFoil 600mm mast with big low aspect wings . Still produced 11 wave turn around . Kai has been pushing the boundaries on larger waves up to 900mm mast on high aspect wings . If you want to go fast and big you have to drop wing size plus you need some extra length in the mast to avoid high impact touch downs through the troughs. His 11 wave ride the mast looks around 700mm on maybe his new mid/large sized wing. Yes longer can be better for the pump but on to tiny boards in small clean waves . You will do the same on a stock mast and larger wing as long as you have the ability and fitness.

Longer mast make it easier to ride higher but also increases the chance of a fall. Kai is at the top end of the spectrum and for now let him go IMHO he will produce the next punter all round model and don't go bolting on longer mast . Stick with what you have got and do the time . Keep your 55cm to 65cm mast curved front wings which is top of the list on all YouTube views.I've been riding a lot of foils and the flat wings are good for speed , lack in lift and drop badly on an over foil , the curved wings lets you ride high without dropping , they gurgle on the surface like an alarm bell letting you catch it , Kai's front wing is curved .

Nah - it's a different one. The full session of one of those three segments.

Dave and Austin Kalama are visiting Florida, and their videos in crappy onshore conditions are mind boggling. For me, it is much more impressive than seeing them in gently rolling hawaiian perfect (compared to Florida) waves. Going out in these onshore winds with a 6'2" (Dave) and a 4'11" (Austin) SUP...

PS: Note the centered position. On the last vid, Austin feet are even closer to the nose than to the tail... His setup is designed around the foil, not anymore around a traditional surfing position. Quite a feat for a SUP that you paddle standing up.

Messy session yesterday towing in on the Lift 150 Sup foil. Very twitchy and hard to keep down in the speed and bumps , will try the Lift 110 kite foil today with the 900 mast , should hold a lot better to reduce the floggings.

Bit of fun today playing around on my new Kalama Sup Foil board with my home made Bungy rope , this is a few of our first runs.

EY's has been SUP'd and surfed for many years. It is a cut in the rocks that we jokingly say only 'Extreme Kayakers' would ever dare to take off and try to surf.

The Foils Only Flight Path is 100% unmake-able on any other water craft unless the waves have 8 to 10 foot faces. At that size you put yourself at serious risk of hitting the rocks to the right of Extreme Yackers (South Mouse Palm Island).

I found that on the foil in smaller surf I can get up and fly a small A frame peak, cut right between the rocks and reconnect with the swell that the other guys are trying to catch 200 yards inside. In smaller conditions on the foil the risk is reduced to 'medium risk.' :)
