No actual Sup surfing in this , but when there are waves I'm sure this will work. I gaffa taped on a kite board to my JP 8-6 Sup. Amazing video and great skills from Chris Percy and Guy Linton riding it.

LOL anything can be done with a bit of duck tape. Looked like fun , the foil looks massive compared to the go foil one? They say it can rise on foil at between 8 to 13 KPH. How fast did you need to go before lift off?

Cool vid, what was the experiment for?
I don't get why strapping a sup board to the already setup kite board when towing? Just using the kite board like at the end of the vid is perfect.

Ive done a tiny bit of foiling behind a ski boat using a kiteboard foil set up and its awesome fun. But even better fun but alot harder is the foil chair. I managed to get up and jump wake to wake but sketchy. Buddy who was teaching me was doing double back and double front flips in his array of tricks on the foil chair. So smooth so cool to watch the air they get is like nothing else.

The whole idea of the test was to test to see if a kite foil would support a Sup , which it obviously does. So next time we will try paddling in on waves.

Ok cool, is the plan to use the same two board strapped together setup to try paddle onto waves, bumps? Or properly attaching the foil into the sup board?

It supports it at towing speed, reckon it will support it at paddling speed?
how slow were you going to get it up on foil? It doesn't take much

those air chairs were so twitchy, it was all in raising or lowering your arms if i remember right i never got very far is the 15min i had to try one, that must have been 20 years ago now

I don't intend to start making these , and yes I'll use the same set up in the surf . This Cabrinha foil is pretty big compared to some others and easier to ride but also slower. There are tons of foils on the market mainly targeting racing kite foils.

Cruising speed was around 12 knots but you could go slower it would start to surface around 6 to 8 knots, definetly capable of paddling onto a wave.

Funny you should mention the foil chair.

I was talking to a kiting mate during the week and the subject of foiling came up.
I said I was surprised he wasn't into it because he always seems to be at the forefront of any new ideas. (he was one of the original kitesurfers in Oz)

"Was doing that years ago" he said, I should have known.

Anyway I have now got an old foil off one of the original air chairs to play with until I can get my hands on a new carbon one

It's alloy so pretty heavy and I am not sure how much lift it will give but hey as they say you never know.........

Had another big crack at it yesterday , waves were too small and choppy. We did manage a couple of short paddle in and raise on the foil but not worth filming. Just need some swell come on Huey....
