Why? I'm confused? Both masts are dogs, the slingshot tho is cheaper and more readily available.
Ok. So you may mean that both masts are dogs regarding weight and fill with water.
But it's way more cheaper to drill 3 holes in my existing Slingshot copy fuselarge to fit the Neilpryde mast. Than buying another mast.
And yes I to was annoyed at Neilpryde gear availability. But too late after my purchase.
And easier to just exchange both the NP fuse or Slingshot fuse. Than removing & attaching different mast plates and foils. I was initially hoping just Wings but may be unsafe.
Just to explain. I had a Chinese copy of the Slingshot H4 Full Assembly as my very first foil about 4 years ago purchased on ebay. I took the chance to purchase at approximately $400 cheaper.
The copy was basically exact in dimensions. But, maybe the grade of aluminium was lower. So my mast bent in waves that were around shoulder to head high.
Just a couple of years later the Neilpryde foils came out at a cheap price with strong enough construction before carbon masts became common. And from what I found out the Slingshot 76 & 84 wings at that time had delamanation issues when I was contemplating just to buy a Slingshot wing.
So I decided it would be more wise in purchasing the Neilpryde going by its positive reviews against buying a Slingshot wing that may end up faulty on my Slingshot copy mast that had bending issues.
I still love using my Neilpryde foil and the mast has not let me down in performance & strength.
Also my Slingshot copy H4 wing & fuselarge assembly is still going strong so that's why I want it on my strong Neilpryde mast that doesn't bend.
But it has been about 2 years since I've used the H4 Slingshot copy wing as at that time it seemed to have less stability. So I'm curious now to find out how it performs again. Just another challenge to find if it will fit another foiling surf style.
I'm thinking the H4 slow speed, less lift will enable me to surf closer in the pocket or shoulder of a wave as well as being a little looser in turns as it was originally designed for.
Plus I'm wondering if it will handle more overhead conditions?
I know the H4 has had good reviews in kitefoiling performance. I think it is called now as the Space Skate wing.
So wont be long to try it out.
