Finally got my hands on a board that will allow me to try and prone DW.

Looking for advice on what foil setup makes sense to start the learning journey after a few years of winging and moderate success prone foiling.

I live on the East Coast of the US and we typically have smaller bumps with very short period. Which setup do you think would be best to start with?Axis HPS1050

68cm AL mast
90cm AL mast
325p tail
375p tail
460 tail


Unifoil Progression 140
Medium fuse
KD Marlin 14"
13" Unifoil shiv, shunt, shank
750 Katana mast

I also have the Axis AL mast to Uni adapter so I could run the 68 or 90 with the 140.


My take is that the HPS will be the easiest to get on foil but not the fastest if the bumps are moving quick. The ART has great glide and pumps well but again, a bit speed limited from what I've experienced on the wing. The Unifoil setup seems like a good option but not sure how different the popup speed will be given that I haven't ever prone foiled the 1099 and have limited sessions on the 1050.

Thoughts?

Uni PP 140 all day everyday for prone in those conditions, and I don't even own one ! Whoops sorry I didn't read it correctly..you want to prone DW on a long narrow board in short period swell ..different story then ,I'd say the big Axis for that one.

What do you mean by prone? What's the board?

Uni 140 or 170 Progression,800 Progression mast,short fuse and 13.5 Progression tail. It will do everything you want. Glide , turns and pumps insane.

I picked up a 6'3" x 18 3/4" Kalama that I plan to either knee paddle or prone paddle into ocean bumps.
