Been on the HPS /ARTs for last 2 years. New wings out but time for a change. Competent in all disciplines-always waves. Peter Pan 50yo. 83kgs. We often have really wobbly/turbulent water though (even when clean) so this is a big consideration. ARTs have been average in these conditions.
A buddy has code and he's loving/ripping on it but I just can't face the closed base plate holes with no opening to flick the board nuts in/out. It's a deal breaker for me after having one with the closed holes a while back. Lift or F-one possibly? Not sure how they handle wobbly water though.
Also super happy to.try less common/popular brands....any suggestions hugely appreciated!

what about the spitfire axis wings. apparently they are really stable in turbulent water.

Thanks eppo for the suggestion. So.many reviews/posts on the spit fire seem to indicate they aren't that much better (ie $1000 better) than a HPS. I'm also running the original carbon mast....so with the option of $2000 for a HM mast and a spitfire upgrade I thought that money better spent on trying something new/different.....but, noted

Seriously, closed base plate holes a deal breaker, are you for real.
So what you can't spare the extra 10 seconds set up time ??
Don't get me wrong I ride Axis and do like the slotted holes.
If I change though it will be Code and the base plate won't be an issue.
Just for the record all the Axis foils are 100% better with a HM mast, yes's ARTs are not great in turbulent water but the HM mast makes them a whole lot better.
Then the ART pros and especially the Spitfire are another big improvement in turbulent water.
It's simply cost that is stopping me changing to Code, closed mast plate holes doesn't deter me one little bit.
Everything about Code is strength and stiffness and even though I don't really think it is necessary the base plate just reinforces that theme.

Looks nice. Thanks for the suggestion. Doesn't seem to be directly available in Oz (yet). Full set up.had a 5k price tag that might not get past the finance committee.....but good to see these new options I'd never known/considered ??

$1500 and it can fully change the feel of your set up and would be one of the stiffest masts on the market.
SDR wings might also be worth a look as they are a mid-HA wing and Surf pretty nice with heaps of glide.
Maybe you don't need to fully start again and just look at upgrading certain bits that will make what you have feel way different and then also down the track if Axis come up with something else amazing which I am sure they will you won't have to swap back again.

So many good foils and options these days you really can't go to wrong just depends how deep you wallet is.

I came from axis to code and liked the way the axis bolts slipped in. All I do now is leave the bolts in the mast but back them off most of the way align the track nuts then slip the front then the rear in without taking bolts out, easy. Then dismantling I back off the rear and undo the front and slide it out. Then pop the front bolts back onto mast for next time. Not hard. Love the gear.

It takes less than a minute more to set up the mast, actually the Code base plate holes gives more space which is good if you have boxes not enough far forward and I think it is stiffer.
Coming from Axis ans Unifoil, I was like you but I actually have no problem with that especially considering how good and amazing Codefoils are.

Also I think that for wobbly water, a bigger stab helps a lot, more stable, more control but add some drag, you can't win everywhere. But faster front wing with bigger stab is a good option.

I think that for your weight(same as me)and skill level, you will not find a better all around wing than the art pro 1051. If you have two tails, bigger and smaller, it will cover 90% of conditions and disciplines. I wing and surf it on my DW board which makes getting up no problem. I haven't proned it but have heard that it rips for that too. This is the wing that we all wanted the art's to be two years ago. I have a spitfire 900 also but can't stop reaching for the 1051. Absolute demon of a foil. I run a 15" kd marlin for smaller or lighter wind and a 359/40 skinny for everything else. Some have spoken about the low end on this one to be unsettling, but I haven't found that to be the case. I put a bunch of time in on it mostly winging and the range just keeps getting better. No wobbles on my HM 900 mast.

I'm not a cult follower of anything, don't doubt there's foils that do things better- I'd say especially at the bleeding edges of performance. Bottom line- if you like the HPS, you'd likely love SF with little to no adjustment period. Pretty much does everything better and what I think IS one of Axis strong suits- is a verrrry user friendly performer. Turns much better- butter smooth. And your primary complaint- definitely smoother in turbulence. HPS can't breach SF does quite well. Surf prone in the pocket- progressive tail for me. Skinny tails definitely noticeably better speed, glide. Have only done quick runs on buddy's equipment, I'm not on but hear similar comparing ART to ART Pro. Not mind-blowing, but noticeable improvements with everything.

Not that new 4k one .....just a used HM. Can't justify more than that....
