This may be the longest sup-foil wave ever ridden! Check out Amit Inbar as he flies above the water for over a minute.

Not true Hilly if you watch the full version all the proners and other Sup riders didn't have the speed to make it through all the fat sections. He has been getting 2km rides. That wave on its day is one of the best lefts in the world but on this day only a foil could make the distance. If you are happier to scratch along for a couple of hundred meters on a Sup power to you big fella , I know what I would rather ride. haha poking the tiger..... give it ago mate and you will now where I'm coming from. Have you tried a foil on your kite yet ?

he obviously needs straps to put more oooomph in his turns :-)

Joke aside, I do not know what to think of this video. Using a foil on a surfable wave do not seem so interesting. I am more impressed by people pionneering non-surfable waves with the foil, such as Eric Terrien (Bic race team rider) here:

Yeah Mick that would be pretty cool . Agree with you both Colas & Hilly that these rigs are not for surf spots and that's why in all of my videos I've posted you don't see anyone else in the water (check my FB or Vimeo page Rob Pirie). My sole purpose of testing and setting up these rigs is to ride open ocean and outer Bombies. I won't post any new videos soon I'm just going through a nasty shoulder reconstruction, so watch this space in 2 or 3 months for something pretty special

From Sam,
"I heard Dave Kalama tried it couple times and went straight to the bank to get the money for it. A couple of days after that, I saw him at one of the outer reef breaks and he took off on one of the waves to ride that thing all the way to the beach where we paddled out, which is about 15 min paddle. We couldn't even see him, it was so far (it was actually a 2 min, 45 sec ride)! It was my turn to go straight to Alex after that session and put my name on the waiting list to buy one."

There was an article about SUP Foiling on a French blog (Laird visit last month here drew quite a bit of attention), and the first comment was: "This fad wont last near Hossegor, there are no foilable waves here"

This is interesting because in my very limited experience, I already saw (and foiled) a huge number of perfectly empty foilable waves here. I guess people have a mental block that prevents them to see waves that would not be surfable with their gear or abilities. Just like non-surfers can not realize there are waves where they live.

Xavier Leroy just got a foil, and his natural talent seems to already make wonders in the ultra-scenic St Jean de Luz sheltered bay.

(but of course, most waves here with surfers now on them are not adapted to foiling). I guess people have a mental block that prevents them to see waves that would not be surfable with their gear or abilities. Just like non-surfers can not realize there are waves where they live.

The mixed field of swell that enters at St Barb is perfect I think.

TimKay,
You are a deadset fu#kwit troll, get a life.
If you spend as much time in the water as you do keyboard warrioring - Kelly Slater would have a reason to retire.
