Being a lazy bastard,I don't pull my foil apart after use, just wash it and let it dry

Now I think there is water in the mast,I tried to undo the wing and pull it apart I can't.

Tried brute strength,spray, tapping it.

Anyone have any suggestions

Its a Naish thrust xlarge

thx

Main reason I got an Armstrong so I did not have to worry about this.
heat works but not good for carbon. Easy out with the correct head.

Soak some penetrene on leave for a few hours. Then use an impact driver.
If the screw heads break or burr so bad you can't get purchase, drill heads off and remove foil . Re-soak bolts then try vice grips. If all this fails take to machine shop and get them to cut 3 mm of mast and re-tap the threads.
Have fun,

Try heating the female part while keeping the screw somewhat cool.
Heat expands the alu.

On my old naish I had success with a manual impact driver. $15 us and a few hits with a hammer and I got a stuck bolt free.

Yeah plus +1 on the impact driver but make sure you have the right bit . I recently saved a fully seized Naish EVERY BOLT LOCKED ( wings as well ) for the boys at SurfFX they had traded . Mammoth job as they had to be impacted almost the whole length of the bolt. Submerge the whole thing overnight just in water ( in your bath tub ) , it at least gets a bit of moister in.

Try impacting in both directions too, to get some movement that you can work with, always used an oxy torch on outboards when nothing else worked , heated the alu quickly and then turned the stainless out while the alu was still soft and hot, don't over heat the alu but or it will melt.Ive done what hilly did and bought an Armstrong... no more worries

Thx for all the advice,it's not going to be fun

But I've got plenty of time on my hands, after what I've saw at the local beaches today, what social distancing.

Wouldnt be surprised if all Ballina Lennox beaches are closed.

Anyway this will teach me not to be a lazy bastard

Armstrong have a threaded titanium rod in the center of the fuselage into which the stainless steel screws go into and secure the front and tail wings. There is zero corrosion between stainless and titanium,so they never seize. They claim you can leave it in salt water for 20 years and it will still unscrew with no problem.
