Ran this over 3 days similar speed Kai Go Foil. NE Cyclone swell. 42.3 Km/h Sup paddle in .
Piros: At one point you suggested the Kai foil was collecting dust. Mine is in that stage now. Why did you switch back to the Kai?
I suspect it was for larger swell. My love for the IWA has bumped the Kai foil to the safety/backup position. The only reason I might grab it would be if I knew there was consistent large swell. BUT I was flying the IWA in 11 ft @ 12 second waves and it was great. A bit hot on takeoff but once I was up I was able to hop from peak to peak. Here was a 512 yarder up to 23.2 MPH, 37.6 kmh on the IWA.
Note: The grey line shows the flight. The cool thing about flying the bigger swell is the speed I hit 300 yards into the ride. The maximum speed was hit on takeoff, the drop, then gliding well out into the "open ocean" zone.
No One in the World is Surfing this section. The second arrow shows where I hit 22.9 mph, or 99% of my takeoff speed. I had to work to keep the nose down, essentially touching down the rail, to prevent over-foiling mid-flight. Average speed for the whole ride was 26.6 kmh.
