been just foiling for 6 months. Went for a normal sup today what a joke. Really unstable, slow bumpy ride and you go slower if you turn. My feet were rooted to the spot so no cross stepping
bugger tied to the foil could be worse.
How long till back to normal????

It was quite quick form, your next SUP session should be OK.

The good news is that afterwards, I could alternate foil and SUP sessions without any problem.

This is why I advise people who learn to foil to only foil at first, even if it is not a problem afterwards, mixing SUP and foiling in the beginning is counter-productive.

G'day hilly, yep foiling will f@#k up your surfing if you do to much of it, your surfboard feels like it's gor a big cress in it. BUT if I don't surf for like 4 days??? the muscle memory never leave and you can jump on your shortboard and surf normal again.
The week before the swell hit Snapper, Snapper was just pumping for the foil from Snapper all the way onto Greenmount Beach thats a 800 metre glide. When that swell hit Snapper I had to ride my 40yo singlefin because it has plenty of foam it helped me find my feet again after a few waves my muscle memory came back "it was Bulk Fun standing in a barrel on a shortboard" there is only one thing better than a nice thick round barrel and thats sleeping with a women.

I'm a begginer at sup foiling about a few months now and going back to sup surf wasn't a problem but going back from sup surf to sup foil was like wottafk
its ok, I like to ride either and sometimes mixing up with my 14ft board to paddle and
It really just depends on the condition and the crowd and then I choose the board to suit.
I'm also hearing a WING in the background to come and play with me

OMG, yes! When I first started foiling, I was going back and forth every 4th session and had no issue but then I committed to the foil for a 3-4 week period and when I got back on my SUP, my balance was shot and I pearled on dropping in! The good news was that after 3-4 waves it came back. Since then I mostly surfed my slightly more stable SUP over my more tipsy ones. 6 months later it seems like it is an easier transition back and forth.

Seemed easier today balance wise. The problem is on the wave where it feels weird. Slow, bumpy, you have to move your feet to trim the board and you slow down when you turn
i need my foil board fixed soon

That was better. 3rd session can paddle better and do a few turns. There is hope.

Hmm, I've been stressing over this for a while.. I haven't surfed for about a year now. Basically got off he Panaitan boat, unpacked all my travel boards and said nahhh. Perth will do that to you.

At least I went out on a high note i suppose.

Gonna have to force myself this week I think. It going to be ugly.

I went back to my SB hypernut 7'2 a few times but I gave up.

I am going to try a longboard sup and if that doesn't work I will concentrate on foiling.

I can catch very small and weak waves with my foil setup now but shallow sandbanks are a big problem.....

I just saw this video on the Sunova Placid thread here. Interestingly, @40 minute mark, it seems that James Casey can't ride his smaller boards either after foiling which was the inspiration for the Placid... so us hobbyists are not alone!
