It is not as clear-cut for these "industrial" items, it also depends on the volume. If you manage to sell 400 foils per month, you can make them cheaper at the same quality than somebody selling 4 per month. Plus with more customers, you have more feedback, more production margins to offer spare parts in case of problems, etc...
Also with a high potential market, it is easier to get the best factories to work with you.
But there will always be people buying $500 prada wetsuit boots...
