It would be interesting to see if he moved the battery closer to the mast if he finds it improves performance as much as I did. It gets rid of the wheelie on takeoff and the hard transition from power to no power.

Hilly, where have you mounted battery box in regard to deck pad edge/ rear strap position. And mast position all way forward?

Try to line it up with the back of the mast. Mast position depends on what works best for the board. For me Smik all the way forward Kalama central.

I'm running my battery at back of deck pad.
Only used the Motor Assist once with my new board but it felt perfect. Board is 6'3x24x100L.
I have a few extra leash plugs in the back for tiedown, easy tool-less on and off.

Nice clean set up.

Be careful, I tried tying mine on using a leash plug and a cord screwed into a foot strap hole. Strap over the center of the box. The latches came loose because the lid was pressed down taking off the pressure on the latches, I got hit by a decent sized wave that pushed the box to one side and water got in the end not under pressure. Expensive mistake.

Thanks Hilly. The silicon bands found on reusable coffee cups make for a good extra level of security around the battery boxes. I might have to recheck how tight I secure the box to my board. Probably for you the major factor is Margs waves versus the soft foamies I ride here in Perth. Water + battery sounds expensive! Ouch!

Tried all that to no avail. Power out but not in will take it to the recycling centre.

Wonder if the foil drive guys could do a rebuild?
