Asked this over on the progression forum but didn't get much traction. Maybe I'll reach some more people here.

Is the code 1300s a suitable foil for doing beginner paddle ups or is it too small? I'm 80kg l, have a barracuda 102l board. I already know how to foil but I have no paddle background

I have not tried to paddle up the 1300 Code but in my experience, as a beginner, you'd want to go bigger, unless you are a young, strong MF. Start with something around 1800-2000 and work your way down.

Code punch above their weight. The 1300 would have massive lift and would paddle up at your weight. However being a beginner it may be a challenge.

In the intro video for the 1300, James states that the 1300 is not specifically designed for flat water paddle ups but it can do it. James makes it look ridiculously easy and gives a simple tutorial and is up and flying in ten strokes. I have 6 sessions on the 1300 trying to flat water paddle up. I can get get the board to release just no flight yet. I'm dedicating 2 to 3 one hour sessions a week to learn this skill on the 1300.
