I know this is primarily an Australian forum but was hoping to see if anyone has any beta on good Oregon SUP foiling spots? Especially between Florence and Crescent City? Thanks!

Can't help but sorry out of curiosity I did a google search , you are definitely going to need some local advise for the foil . How's this place check out the hazards , sounds perfect for the foil I'll chase a USA buddy of mine that should know and I'll get back to you.

Thanks Piros, Bastendorff sounds like the dream set up! Haha! I've SUP surfed the central and South coast a little and have some spots in mind but it's been a few years and wondered if some better spots had been scouted for foiling.

Here you go this is from my mate :-

Florence has a river outfall near Heceta Beach and is a known surf spot. Pistol River to the south is a famed windsurfing spot. In Crescent City there is a spot near the mouth of the Klamath River. The good part river mouths is they provide a shallow to deep area break in what is largely a line of beach breaks along the Oregon coast. The sketchy part is that they are outfalls and as such they're prone to GW's coming in to see what there is to eat. Also I can't say that Oregon and Norcal surfers are a friendly bunch as a whole. But you never know. Wind is a factor, usually from the NE-NW. Summer can be OK but not great. But this is just from my few times along that coast. I'm not real keen on the area because of the sharks.

When I am on a SUP Foil I never worry about sharks however when I am sitting there submerged on my prone foil my mind does sometimes wander to potential predators. So lucky you as this fear the normal surfers have will make it even more uncrowded!

Piros, cheers for the info! Much appreciated. Definitely not a fan of impersonating bait for big fish but that's just part of the Oregon coast experience.

the south end of Crescent city has a mellow beach break called Crescent Beach that would work well for foiling. We sup surfed it a few ago and it was decent for my wife which means it was super easy and mushy. Florence could work near the jetty. It tends to be large and windy beach break. There is also a funny break in between the jetties. Its a river mouth that breaks at a certain tide. My brother(redtx) foils a bunch at Pacific City and Lincoln City. Bring a wingding and you will have a ton of options. Oh yeah and a puffy jacket. It is often downright miserable in summer on the OR coast. A great place to wing(esp to learn) is Lake Floras near Bandon, which is a freshwater, sharkless lake on the beach that gets ocean breezes, has fun family camping and a beachbreak (often heavy). Good biking and hiking. Fun for everyone. There is a wing school there that will give you jetski support. Have fun!

Windoc is an OG windsurfer, he knows that coast! And from the sounds of initial reports, he has found really good sup foil at newport and florence, but EPIC wingfoiling. Which is really no surprise, that coastline has to be high up there on the list for dependable wind n waves. The Van Isle crew left behind are all jealous of the scoring and winning.

For anyone interested, like Juan wrote, Newport has EPIC winging at the South Jetty and the bar was working great for SUP foiling. Wind shut down there and got stinking hot (!) so we moved on to Hood River. Friendly crew of kiters and just a couple of other wingers (Canadians too). Even got an old school windsurfing wave session in on a 4.6 and 86L board in 5' fun surf. Fun to loop again after all this wangin' nonsense . Thanks to those who chimed in!

Stoked you scored! Oregon can be quite fickle, need to utilize the long range forecasts and have alternate activites available. Just to add to the spots mentioned already if you head South of Florence; Winchester Bay South Jetty, Face Rock Bandon, Hubbard Creek, Myers Creek just before Pistol River. These are the decent Summer time breaks that work with either South swells or windswell. Newport and up is the way to go as the NW wind is lighter so windding is more doable and you're close enough that the Gorge (Hood River) is only a few hours away when the coast becomes socked in with southerly wind and clouds.

Piros quoting "shark hazards" -hilarious! I'd be way more afraid in the beaches off Sydney... southern Oregon's dangers are slow moving RV's, loneliness, currents, and icecold water.
