What another epic time in Cairns. As Murphey would have it, both races were very light on for wind again, this year, however the week between did not disappoint one bit. Some of the best foiling around.

Here Kuey's VLOG recap of his time. He unfortunately missed the Mon - Wed which were they best conditions, but did score some decent runs Thurs and Fri before the GBROC.

And here is the full event recap by Paddle Life TV. It covers all the craft, and given it is a OC/Ski event, not so much foiling, but still some great coverage showing the conditions.

These event, in particular the GBROC were incredibly challenging, both physically and mentally. I have never been so tested and learned a lot about myself after finally completed the brutal 45km course of GBROC. As mentioned the foiling of the link week was incredible, Monday was absolutely amazing with huge bumps and I clocked up over 58km in just that day. Tuesday and Wednesday did not disappoint either. Both events were hard, but they always are. There is not easy races!

Strongly recommend to those that are unable to make it to Hawaii. My entire trip was around $3,500.00 which is amazing for how much fun I had. I will be back for sure.

Here's how we crossed the line. I had such a challenge in the super light start, it took me over 1hr to do the first 9.28km's, then 2hr16min to do the last 42.42km! Such a mind game at the beginning. So hard to keep your cool and stick to a plan, trying to keep your HR low, but also trying to get on foil for as long as you can. But you desperately do not want to over do it as it will come back and haunt you later in race this long. Knowing your body, understanding recovery and having a plan is vital!

Again, an amazing experience.

It surely can't s**** us every year . If we had the conditions we had on the Monday between, it would have been a very differnt race for sure. Small foils, and some very fast speeds (a lot of the boys doing sub 2:20's on Monday's run), I think i got my 1400 up to 2:27 which is smoking for a big foil. But it doesn't take much for it to get really good up there, but sub 10kn is always going to be tough. But that's racing right (or competition in general).

Putting it out there, 2025 is going to be epic! Reckon the podiums will be sub 2hrs. Come up and play
