I've done an apples to apples comparison, swapping smaller lighter mast with Axis 19mm. I feel zero flex on the Axis and more direct input and control. For me a stiff mast is #1, weight and drag are inconsequential. And it's more than just the mast, how the mast plugs in is just as important, I feel zero play in the doodad, and I can shim the baseplate if there are any gaps. And bolts, long 8mm bolts stay tight, I never need to tighten the bolts mid session.
Holy smokes that makes the axis carbon HEAVIER than the current naish AL or my LF orange.
I don't really care about the doodad, just interested in the mast. A properly machined and torqued butt joint on an AL with 8mm hardware is 0 movement. It's easy to mess up that connection by dropping something or whatever but I can just throw it on the mill and take off a few 1/1000"s.
probably gonna go with the Cedrus just so some stuff outside of my manufacturing wheelhouse becomes an option.
