Hi everyone following manitulak "excercise", thanks for being with me, kind of felt this way, not alone, thanks. Things I have done, all that prep was not necessary (good), but on other hand, pity I do not known if it would work. Maby it is better to remind curious than disappointed, I think.

I came home from the yacht late this morning just after high tide and it was blowing about 15 knots. Went back down after a few hours and the yacht basin was like a mill pond. Packed up the food and clothes and then did a bit of work removing some of the crap particle board lining the previous owner had fitted with liquid nails.

I left just before sunset and got a few spectacular photos of the basin with the South Head light reflecting the red light of the sunset. Red sky at night, sailors delight.

With the scene as it was you would not believe it had blown 30 knots all night the previous night.

When I can get my computer to recognise an SD card I will start posting pics again.

Hi all, from damaged Yeppoon.
Yesterday finally come back to live my wireless, charged up
iPad and mobil through boat solar.
Just a quick summary.
2 hours before the storm we lost electricity
and still take one or two weeks to get it back.
Means no shops, petrol, all shut.
Yesterday Coles, some petrol station and a few other shops
open, running from gen. sets.
All other shops closed, incl. post office, medicals etc.
2 hours after storm passed we lost mobil and wireless.
You seen more details than us here, because no TV.
First two days is chain saw days, millions of trees down,
over 1000 power lines, debris everywhere.
We and my friends luckily survived without damage.
Not talking about trees and fences. 5 meters piles,
on nature strip means nothing happened.
Marina survived reasonably well, king tide and 3 meter
surge didn't eventuate.
Hard stand marina, wasn't that lucky, a few boats tipped,
I am shielded by 6.5 tons power cat. felt reasonable
confident. I was wrong. Cat hit me and pushed
my trailer nearly 1 meter sideways. Mast snapped in half.
No wires broke, just mast in two pices, suspended in mid
air, tip of the mast rested on that cat.
Plenty pics, still in camera. Laptop dead, no power.
My 150w Invertor, after a few overloads ...gone with the flash.

Good to hear you're alive and well. I feel for you I went through the Katherine floods in 1998 so know what it's like being in aa crippled isolated town depending on help from the army. Take care Chariot
