Hi everyone, I'm looking at doing some maintenance on my engine before the next season starts and I'm wondering what I can do about some slack in my folding propeller it's a two blade type, would it be better to replace it with a 3 blade folding one or try fix what I have? There is also some vibration and noise when going in reverse and some vibration in forward I plan to replace the cutlass and check the alignment when I get her out of the water cheers

The vibration is most likely a worn cutlass bearing. A two bladed prop where the folding blades are sloppy is unlikely to cause vibration. Once the engine is in gear the blades are flung out to their operating position and the pressure would be holding the blades secure even if there is wear. They maybe over opened but they will still be fixed by the water pressure. Even at idle there is still plenty of pressure on the blades.

Possibility - if you install 3 blade than hopefully you have enough engine power as there would be more pressure on the blades.
