After opinions on which boat for off-shore cruising WA based.

UFO 34 1988, 1500 hrs engine well maintained, oversized s rigging inspected and cleared 2022, (boats online ) in WA. $72000

Yamaha 33 1000hrs engine, newish rigging (boats online) in WA. $72500

Internally , both boats have been very well maintained but the Yamaha is more open in design while the UFO has walls (floor to roof)
dividing kitchen and navigation spaces.

I would personally prefer the UFO 34. Both of those boats are way over priced in today's market but that particular UFO34 does look the goods. That's one of the nicest fit outs I have seen in a UFO.

I'm still amazed at the prices being asked for boats and they certainly don't seem to have come down since covid which was supposed to be an all-time high spike. If anything in OZ they are still going up.
Mind you I have had a few things done to my boat and I'm totally shocked at the enormous gouging that tradesman are partaking in at our expense. Perhaps this is what is keeping the price of boats high because people know that any fixing up will cost a fortune if you don't do it yourself and there is a limit to how much you allowed to do yourself.

Thanks Ramona, it looks even better in real life, a testament to the owner. Prices seem to be typically higher in Perth with limited choices.

The UFO is a fair bit smaller, from memory of looking over them, although the LOA is pretty much the same. It's got a narrower stern and less freeboard. Personally the UFO's layout would drive me batty but that's just personal taste and it is very nicely done indeed.

It's interesting how important the quality of the photos in the ads are to selling a boat. The photos for both the UFO and the Yamaha 33 for sale for 72 grand are simply superb! If you look at the photos of the Yamaha 33 that sold for 40 grand you can see it's identical inside almost to the 72 grand version. They were pretty much stock boats. The cheap ones photos are very poor. The wide angle lenses used in the good photos make the interior look much larger and inviting. Good sharp pictures will sell a boat.

I bought mine close to 2 years ago, it was the peak of the market and many boats were lasting less than a week for sale. I think they are not selling as fast now as they were but I agree the prices haven't fallen yet, seems odd given house prices are down. A crash must be coming.
