I am hoping to come down from Pittwater pending the weather...

looking at contingency plan if the weather is bad to go back.. any ideas?

i really want to come but ill have to play it by ear unfortunately. I dont mean to seem flakey as im not really like that, its just that i live in the southern highlands and spend most the week in sydney working, so i love my weekends at home. It will depend how busy work is during the week and how the gardens going. those organic vege gardens are alot of work and if i dont tend to it when its critical we can lose alot of food.

The weather will always be a consideration. As I will be single handed, I will probably be on the iron genoa both ways unless it is very benign. So if you get stuck down there, you are welcome to hitch a ride back. You just have the problem of where to leave the boat for a few days. Otherwise we can go in a conga line and keep an eye on each other.

Good onya twodogs for organising a SB Raft-up, even if you just get a few turn up, its bound to be good fun.
Don't think I'll be there, I'll be at the Top Hat gathering the week before, & don't think I could stretch a 2 week trip into a 4 week trip

When you get there and grab a mooring.
Spit bridge opens at 8:30, 10 and 11:30 before lunch and every 2 hours after lunch.
I plan to get there in time for the 11:30.

Weather on Sunday is looking very iffy thou, SW change coming through about 14:00. The Port Botany guys may be in for a tough afternoon going home. If I leave early on Sunday morning and get the first bridge I will probably be most of the way home by then.

Will make a call on it (for me) later in the week.

I regret I won't make it.
As much as I would like to meet a few more Seabreezers, Middle Harbour in 39 deg C is not where I want to be. Quarantine Bay where you can relatively safely leap over the side would be more attractive but only marginally so.
MB also needs a hull/prop clean, at the moment I barely make 4kts as I drag half the Barrier Reef with me, so it would be a pain going anywhere.

Yeah its gonna be hot up there. spit bridge etc. For me its a 300km drive. Not a fan of the harbour weekends as it is. Weekdays for me- especially in summer until i move boat elsewhere .

That is probably where we will be for a swim first. By 1630 should start to drop temperature especially as we won't be anchoring till 1700

Not complaining about the location at all, my apologies if I gave that impression. Nobody would have forecast this heatwave although it isn't unheard of in Sydney at this time of year.
Overall MB is in excellent condition but the state of her bottom sides is a major factor in my not being keen to go anywhere. The Lord Howe trip cleaned the prop speed off the prop so I gave it a clean about 3 weeks ago, last week it was crusted up again. I have been meaning to get a diver in to scrub the hull but haven't got one I know in the harbour. Any recommendations?
I do hope to catch up with more Seabreezers this year, as I met Sectorsteve last year when he gave DrRog and I a hand to get away from Drummoyne.

I won't be going... have too much going on with work this weekend. If only it were next weekend .

The forecast I have for Sunday is a fresh Southerly, 40% chance of rain and a maximum of 25 degrees.

Even though numbers were low,(3xboats from Botany Bay,1xboat from Pittwater),the weather conspiring to make it uncomfortable,and mechanical issues,the Breezers and companions that endured the trials were rewarded with plenty of laughter and good company.

That's great, well done.
I would've love to be there, but we couldn't make it in time.

It was a great night a bit hot and then the southerly at 2300 causing a scattering to get everyone on their own anchor.
Thanks to uncle Bob, EC31 AND Droz ( I think that is Tom's nic) for making the effort. Also to you Dusty and Glen and Sue who came along on other boats.
Saturday's sail up from Botany bay was a battle with a 2+knt current wich was in close took nearly 5 hours from the mooring. Sundays return trip was one of the best sails I've had topped off with reaching through botany bay at 8-8.5 knts no spinnaker.
Was good to put a face to some names and looking forward to the next

It was worth the trip down to put faces to the names. For me it was a very enjoyable night in a quiet place with great company. Those that went for a swim are still here to tell the tale. Although the southerly interrupted the party, it did help cool everything down a tad.

A picture early in the morning of Sugarloaf Bay. TwoDogs is over to the left somewhere, Droz is down the back safely tucked behind the QE2. UncleBob and I stayed in our spot overnight. I can tell you, neither anchor was going to budge.

Hi, despite the extreme heat I believe that a good time was had by those present, and I would not hesitate to partake again, conditional on a somewhat more temperate weather window.

I still maintain we should have launched a boarding party on the QE2 (or at least its tender) to partake in its air conditioned surroundings......
