Seems I can't resurrect this old Post so I'll start again I hope. MorningBird started the original post looking for a diver in Sydney Harbour for a hull scrub. I'm unsure of MBs location, but he ended up using a guy called Deniz, but there was also Dave from Balmain mentioned. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows if these guys are still around and doing Hull cleaning. My bene First305 is moored off Onions pt, opposite Woodford Bay, I'm hoping a local might be a bit cheaper.

Deniz has done MB a few times. She gets a lot of slime pretty quickly, seems to need a clean every 4 months or so. He charges $120 and I'm happy with the result each time.

Bowline Marine are pretty good, and they give you before-and-after photos as well, along with an estimate of the life remaining for the antifoul.

I remembered the original thread and searched for it on the weekend.
I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of both scuba bees and Deniz, when i tried to organise a rush job clean.
Scuba bees couldn't do it because of poor viz, but we're very prompt and professional in correspondence.
I managed to organise Deniz to do the job the next day, who suggested we do the clean at Athol Bay,which we did. I highly recommend him.
This forum is full of great info,
Cheers

Scuba Bees is now Max Marine services. They video before and after..so you get to see your clean hull (and dirty hull) on YouTube. Found them good. Charge me $150..but my mate (same boat) gets it for $120, though he gets his done every month and me every 2 months.

So $900 a year for you and $1440 a year for your mate.

Think he is on the back foot

I am really glad l introduced Deniz to the Seabreeze forum years ago.
This days he is doing mooring servicing as well. It is his new business but he is still doing the cleaning as well.
I would hate to lose him as a diver as he is very reliable and cheap.

Thank you to everyone for all your help and suggestions. I put out 8 identical quotes (that's just me), and was surprised at the price differences I got back. I ended up going with "Bowie the Diver" who I found in Afloat magazine. Bowie used to work with Denis, and as Denis is getting busier with mooring services, his overflow boat work is going to Bowie. He's just starting out on his own, his quote was slightly cheaper than the others, and I was willing to give him a go. We got there in the end after two attempts(due to poor visibility), but the job was as expected and I would use him again. The 'after' video showed a decayed rudder shaft anode -which accounts for the slight "rudder shudder" that I was experiencing. I'll need to replace it in the next couple of months so I'll get under and measure if I need to, but offhand does anybody know what the shaft dia would be on a Beneteau First305, running a brand new Volvo Penta 19hp with a fixed two blade prop?
