Not all have timber decks, some have glass decks. Should be easy to check. BlueMoon is right though, if you're careful about new deck fittings and make sure the old ones are in good repair, a timber deck isn't that much of an issue.
JBear will soon see this and give you the good oil. From what he's told me about them (I've been looking at either a Swanson 32 or 36 for about a year now) they'd be perfect for pretty much any trip you want to take them on. There are others of course, but the Swannys are a grand boat for sure.
