Hi all,
Just reaching out to anyone who could help with specs on these yachts.
We recently became proud owners of a 1983 Sparkman & Stephens Defiance 30 by Savage and are in love with her. I call her the chubster as she reminds me of a well rounded lady.
She's very spacious inside and enough headroom for my 6ft partner to stand in and then some.
We plan to work on improving her as she really deserves the love so we are hoping to find any kind of specs available on her.
We also need to replace the propellor and shaft down the track as the hull was sealed and propellor removed at some point, running on an outboard now when needed. Not sure why as the hull is beautiful so I guess the motor just ran its course and previous owners decided to seal the area, which is another thing we will eventually replace with a brand new inboard.
She also has a stunning racing history including having an honour plaque inside, winning races like the Melbourne to Hobart race in the 80s and was known as the Jazzman.
if anyone can help with information and specs, history, sail makers who specialise in these yachts as a recommendation etc, would love to hear from you. ??
