Back in 2019 I posted a video of my sheet to tiller set up.

As with most things , the more you use it the easier it becomes.
Sometimes a fiddle to set up, sometimes settles down quickly.

Doesn't help bring in the fish though

Have you released the heady sheet totally so that the line to the tiller acts as the sheet?

The sheet is released just enough for the control line to have (about)100mm pull then stop s the sheet takes up the tension.
With a fully released sheet the set up would be way over powered.
You can see me haul in a bit of sheet at one stage.

Hello Gary - top effort right there. When I first saw the video the suitable inflatable lifejacket was clear but not a personal safety line. eg

Didn't want to comment initially so as to not be a worry wart..........just looked at the video again and saw the ship going inside you..........realise you will not sail if conditions are foul but when sailing offshore in any conditions single handed is a safety line a good idea? They need to be managed when working around the boat obviously.............making planned re-hook actions going fwd and aft as relevant, so they don't become a burden and get tangled.

I appreciate your concern. Thank you.
I have to admit is was one of those days that I didn't strap in.
My excuse (and not a really good one ) was that I was sailing in company.
Another fishing challenge and we were within 25 to 100 meters of each other most of the day.
Will take pics of my jackline rig and post.
