I recently bought an Explorer 16.
I need to put new wire in my jib luffs.
I do a lot of wire balustrade work and have some 1 x 19 SS wire.
However I can see that the wire from Whitworths, which is 4 x the $ I buy mine for, and the existing wire is wound less tightly and in the opposite direction. Binks Marine sells what looks to be the same wire that I have, for rigging.
Does anyone here know if I can use the wire i have for rigging.

Your 316 grade wire has >800kg breaking load (BL) and the WW wire 861kg and >4.5 times the price as you say - cripes. WW don't quote a grade but trust/assume it is 316

The reel photo in your Better Hardware link seems to be of 7x19 or 7x7 wire. But the close up photo as below is 1x19 and seems to have a longer helical pitch as per normal 1x19 than the reel photo which I assume is what you were alluding to here

All these decisions carry some sort of risk but in this case seems like not much. Is the wire you have like the close up photo below or the reel photo? If you have >800kg BL wire with 316 grade the difference in 800kg and 861kg is not much obviously. Assume you have the hydraulic swage press needed?

The photo of the reel at better hardware appears to be generic. Not what I have. I went to WW today and their wire looks and feels exactly the same as the wire I use and have in stock. Both are tighter wound and opposite direction to the existing wire on the boat. Both are more flexible than the wire on the boat.
WW said that that is what they sell as rigging wire. So I am happy to use what I have. & yep, I have a hydraulic swaging tool.
