Hi everyone,
Im just about to have my standing rigging replaced (all wire, turnbuckles suaging, bridal for the backstay). We are dropping the mast so I can do some work on it. The rigger will help and has organised a vehicle crane. We are on a 31ft masthead sloop. The quote we received is 9.1k. Can anyone lead me in the right direction about the value of this quote? I understand that hardware is more expernsive with inflation and supply issues. What do you all think? The quote for the hardware itself was 6.6k.
Cheers
Pat

My friend had the work done on 38 foot cruising Beneteau recently in Melbourne by the main contractor in Williamstown and it was about $6k total.
Northshore 33 l think about $3500. Same contractor.
I have been quoted even less by a different supplier on a Bluewater 290 ..but haven't got the bill yet.
Hiring a crane adds a bit..try a yard with a travel lift.

In 2020 I had my cavalier 32 done professionally in Sydney for about $7,500 in the end. Only one chain plates was replaced and that was for the back stay.
Are you replacing any chain plates?

Thanks everyone. I thought it was a bit expensive. I've managed to get it down to 8k. I think its still a bit expensive, but we only have 1 option where we are. I understand inflation is crazy atm and that will exacerbate crane costs too. We just dont have another option here unfortunately.

@jbarnes85 no we arent pulling any chainplates, he reckons they are fine.

I apppreciate all your advice. Cheers!

Kinora (Currawong 30) was done by Elite Yachting Services, Mona Vale in December 2020. About $6,600 for the standing rigging and another $1,400 to do the chain plates for the shrouds and backstay.

Cheers,
Kinora
