When I was working in V8 Supercars, we used this stuff:

I can highly recommend it for high temperature and high vibration environments, not sure about water, but I'd be surprised if there's anything else on the market that's better.

That 3m stuff looks awesome but also pretty expensive.

my previous and present boat have carpet and nothing compares.
i invested in a Dyson cordless vac which is nearly 6 years old and still going strong.
As for mould I use mould killer once a year in my sleeping cabin as that's where I sleep 12 months of the year.

the hook and loop on Velcro will be stronger than most glues

Well started painting the Sealing stuff on, its super thick and not easy to work with. but making good progress, thats the front half done, probably leave it a few days before clambering back in and painting the stern.

then once that's done it will be painting the primer on then start on painting the white.





Just having Everything one color makes a big improvement.

Had a good productive night, painted the primer inside on the front 3rd, so can paint the top coat tomorrow.

and i "acquired" some navigational charts of the Perth metro area which is awesome, just need to Geo reference them and get them working on the Raspberry Pi

Whats the name of the sealing product you are using?

Hi microbe, it's a sika polyurethane based product, ill grab a photo of the tub later, its ment for marine applications and also things like water tanks, low odours too which is good.

Got open cpn working with some charts from DOT converted to BSB using a free version so now I know it works ill get the full version of the converter.

Excellent. Now you can get decent charts of Rottnest from your mates.

started painting the white inside the cabin yesterday. Wow so nice to have a clean new look, will definitely need 2 cotes of paint but shines up nicely and looks goooood.
as im carpet lining the sides and floor ill just be painting the ceiling, but if i have enough paint leftover i might cover a few other areas.

still waiting on the screen for the RPI to arrive, once that gets here i can start deciding where ill be fitting it all. i will probably add some external plugs so i can add a second screen at a later date that can be seen from the seated positions.

What do People recommend for navigation lights? set-up placement etc.

While I have permanently wired nav LEDs, the battery powered removable jobbies are pretty popular. Most people will only need nav lights a couple of times a year so KISS.

For steaming or masthead light a LED on a stick mounted in the mast track and hoisted with a halyard saves a lot of wiring hassle. It can be wired or battery, i have this setup for emergency and it works a treat. If you want more info I can dig up the LED details.

I do like the simplicity of the battery ones. But I've found it hard to get ones that mount securely. I'm in no rush for them as I don't plan on doing any overnight sailing for a bit.
