They would not cook a Mosquito otherwise.
I'm not sure about others such as the Origo Metho on how they function, which I think may be gravity fed.
I have an Origo. Its a great little stove, under each burner is a canister filled with an absorbent fabric. You pour the metho into the canister, it takes about a litre.
To light it you just open a metal plate that keeps the canister sealed, then you just light the vapours coming from the canister. This plate also regulates the intensity of the flame.
It is so simple but boils a kettle much faster than a maxi. when it runs out of metho it just stops working. If you have to leave it for a while they provide 2 little rubber gaskets which make a better seal onto the canisters and stop the metho evaporating off.
