I have a 2 burner metho stove in my shed doing not much. Great condition and works perfectly.

Are these old style stoves worth much? Considering selling it. But if it's not worth much I'll keep it cause is old, shinny and kinda cool.

Will post a photo when I pull it out next.

I received a couple of dimension enquirys.

To give all the dimensions would need a drawing but very basic dimensions are.

Base rectangle 430mm wide (front) 230mm deep.
The top is larger with tank at the back and angled shields at the front. So top rectangle is 430mm wide 355mm deep.
Height is 115mm
If more dimensions needed I would need to draw it a scan it or something.
As for price. I really don't know what it's worth. I'm not working at the moment so if I sell it I've really got to get what I can.

I might put it on eBay starting at say $50.
And notify people hear when it's on.
That way someone here can get it pretty cheap if there's not much interest. And I get a few bucks if there is a market for it.

$500 seems ridiculous.

I have one exactly the same but without the cover. I got it a few months ago on Gumtree.
Nice little stove and suits my requirements.

Like the instructions for this METHO stove. It answers the critics some time ago who tried to claim if you pre-heated the feed lines it was a kero and not a metho stove.

Kero needs to be turned into a vapour to burn correctly in a pressure kero stove

Wrong HG. Perhaps some metho burners don't need preheating, but this one does (see instructions), and others that I've seen and owned. It's not pressurised, but once running properly the metho drips into the hot chamber, vaporises, and the vapour burns on exit from the chamber through the jets.

It's always only the vapour that burns, how it turns the fuel into vapour is a design function of the stove.

a lot of fuels are like that Ive seen a cigarette thrown in a bucket of petrol didn't burn as there were no vapors at that stage

Thanks guys, some time ago when a seabreezer was asking for what fuel his stove used, metho or kero, the "experts" advised him that if it needed pre-heating then it must be kero because a metho stoves did not need pre-heating. When I posted that my stove was metho and was pre-heated (same as the instructions on the stove in this thread) I was cynically asked whether I really knew whether my stove used metho. I will keep copies of the photos on this post in case the same issue is raised again. I hope the previous questioner was not led astray.

Yes as HaveFun mentions and in particular,the Maxie brand pressurised Metho stoves do indeed need pre-heating.
They would not cook a Mosquito otherwise.

I'm not sure about others such as the Origo Metho on how they function, which I think may be gravity fed.

I have an Origo. Its a great little stove, under each burner is a canister filled with an absorbent fabric. You pour the metho into the canister, it takes about a litre.
To light it you just open a metal plate that keeps the canister sealed, then you just light the vapours coming from the canister. This plate also regulates the intensity of the flame.
It is so simple but boils a kettle much faster than a maxi. when it runs out of metho it just stops working. If you have to leave it for a while they provide 2 little rubber gaskets which make a better seal onto the canisters and stop the metho evaporating off.

Andy, what type of Origo is it? I have just about exhausted the options for filling my CNG cylinders in Sydney. Nobody will do it anymore, especially for the size of cylinder we use.

Think Bubbles 777 has one he brews up his own fuel for it

MB its a domestic origo 2 burner. It costs around $500 including pot rails. Available from seabreeze industries
It was a replacement for a Ravia the same as the one on this thread but in much poorer condition.
I personally think they are the best metho stove by far
If you contact Seabreeze industries tell them you want the boat show special price it worked for me 6 months ago so you might as well give it a try

Sorry MB I'm getting my terminology wrong. I would suggest both those places mentioned would be LPG. Can't help you I'm afraid.

You may want to consider automotive gas fittings off a car. Use these to fill a cylinder at petrol stations that have gas [try to find one run by Indians]. Then at home invert the cylinder and top up the yachts cylinder.

Or find someone that has the set up already [not me].

OK my bad, I just realized you have CNG. Ignore the advice above!

MB see your problem CNG makes heaps of sense for a boat, as the leakage does not pool in your boat.

But CNG generally only works for large volumes with a compressor on site. 20+ years ago the factory I worked at were one of the first sites in Australia to use forklifts with CNG......not without some problems.

We had a forklift go up in a ball of flames soon after, with driver on board, he was quite a hairy man...but after, not so much!
As the engines need it be modified to convert to CNG, and then won't run other fuels.... Origin at the time guaranteed that in the case of a compressor breakdown the would supply an emergency bank of cylinders within hours so they can supply...but small users???

Just an idea, see if you can find a forklift repair business...they would need to get a small supply, maybe from the business that has a compressor, a case of beer may go a long way???

Samsturdy, yes I do want to get a metho/kero stove. I want a good one, preferably with a grille and might even look at an oven one. I then won't be stuck when my bottle is empty.

Mate was showing me his Kero stove/oven yesterday, brand name was Blackwater or something similar. All stainless on a gimbal. Looked brand new. His mate that works at a scrap metal business here gave it to him! He needs a tank to finish off the unit.
