Does anyone know what happened on the bay today?
Is everyone alright?
Shows that keelboat crashes can escalate pretty quickly, windy day, but not out of control.
It would be interesting to find out what went wrong.

Your post got me curious, so I consulted the great god of Google and came up with this;

Sounds like they were racing, collided, and 1 sank. All crew rescued.

Who was on port, and who was on starboard?

The boat that sank was a adams 10.
The boat that hit it was also a adams 10.
Thats all I know at this stage. The emails should come out tomorrow from the others that where around.

There were four Adams 10 yachts competing in a race held by RMYS. The crews are from NSw and VIC. The yacht Serious Yahoo was sailing on starboard tack. She was Tboned by Salamander who were on Port tack. Serious Yahoo was holed about four feet from the bow and quickly took on water. The 7 crew members were picked up and returned to shore all safe and well by the RMYS committee boat

Thats a serious bow down impact. The T bone impacts you normally see are up on the toerail, unusual to see a hole that low down on a Starboard tack boat, which should have the toerail low in the water on port side upwind?

Good to hear all crew are OK. Boats can mostly be replaced, people mostly not.
