Does anyone know of a boat builder in Queensland that was called PC Marine?
I've been told they are no longer trading. I'm trying to gather some information on a catamaran built in 2012.

I thought the PC cats were made by Beach Marine. If so they were long out of business by 2012 so I could be wrong. Put up a photo of the cat and we can check it out much better. There are a lot of cats that have incorrect naming around.

The boat is a 2012 Schionning Spirited 380. The survey indicates it being built by PC Marine QLD.
I'm just trying to sort out if this boat was a one off for this company and what there experience is with ATL balsa core.

All the Spiriteds were one offs. Craig Schionning made the hull pan and then you go the rest of the kit which was a balsa duflex one. ATL provided the duflex kit. I can understand that you want to avoid issues with the balsa. Even when I have done everything right with fasteners I have still had issues with it on my cat. I had a hairline crack develop on my duckboard and the rain got in. Took me a week to fix that. Now my catwalk is having issues and there are almost no fasteners in it. I would gheck the effectiveness of various hardware installs. Maybe the pwner will let your surveyor pull out a staunchion and winch and observe if the coring is good. A moisture meter check would be essential too. AS for me - I am not that keen on Sprited 380s. Craig didn;t do much cruising before he drew the boat. The cabin windows are the very last design I can think of that has super slopey angles. They will be terrible for looking through for sailing and also incredibly hot. They are not a good idea. Also the engine access is a nightmare. I met an owner once at Cottage Point. He told me he wanted to throttle Craig because the only access was from on top and it was almost impossible to service the donk. They were installed before the sides got put on. Also they don't have a lot of weight carrying capacity - the ones I see have their sterns immersed.

Then there is the rig size - it is big. One flipped in SA, one flipped on Lake Mac and one flipped off Port Stephens - killing two or three people. The boat is a little thinner maybe to get into a travel lift and the rig is tall to get performance. I have a similar sized cat with a 14.1 m mast and 7 m beam - so she is lower and wider. You can stay safe - just get ready to reef earlier than anyone else. cheers

The Lidgard 40 designed by Gary Lidgard is the best cruising Cat I have ever seen and sails beautifully
Schionning designs are ordinary , no idea why they are so popular. The engines are mounted under the first step on the sugar scoop transom , an absolute joke

The Spirited 380 is by Craig Schionning. Jeff Schionning is Craig's dad and designs the Schionning range. They do not have a business relationship. I don't get the worry about the outboards - the well idea allows you to use outboards on large cat. It also means that a daggerboard cat can take the ground. That is much harder with a diesel and daggers as there is no protection for the saildrive or shafts. Outboards have so many advantages for a multi (I have had them for 25 years) and the Schionning idea (the idea was originally Pescott's) allows the outboards to stay immersed in waves. It's a clever system when done well. Daggers allow a cat to sail better both to windward and downwind so the motor choice is a good one if you decide to go daggers and have a great sailing cat. The Lidgard is a nice boat but the nice Schionnings are slippery. My mates with them like them - really lovely boats to sail. I haven't seen any slow Schionnings whereas I have passed quite a few Fusion 40s (the Lidgard 40 design). Still they are a nice cat for those who want more stuff on their boat than a Schionning can take but they are quite a bit slower.
