The current dust and fire ash is making cleaning my boat a challenge.
The cock pit floor is textured deck grip and normally cleans up nicely.
However, it now has an dull orange stain or what ever it is.
Deck clean with a hard scrubbing brush is no go as is trying exit mould.
This stain was not there 2 weeks ago.
Any suggestions?

Join the club, I have been hosing it off but some remains to be dealt with at a later date. Remarkable how such a fine red dust self replenishes, to be followed with both fine black ash AND fine white product of the fires, I think it is pieces of burnt gum leaves.
I am going to try a good wash with a bleach based cleaner after all is over.

Try sugar soap or if that doesn't work try Oxalic acid

Think how lucky you are , it may well have been a poo stain in your cockpit if you were as close as the Mallacoota crew !

Detergent is alkali, pointless adding that to an acid. I went sailing yesterday and scrubbed my boat down with warm water and plenty of truck wash before I left. Flushed it off with buckets of salt water [not the panels]. I was mainly interested in getting the solar panels clean. I would suggest truck wash and a soft broom with a stiff nylon brush for the tough bits. Once these bush fires ease up use Metal Gleam [phosphoric acid], Oxalic acid to get rid of the stains.
