I just got back from back from another sailing trip to the North Coast of Kangaroo Island. I revisited favourite anchorages such as American River and Western River Cove, but also explored some new places such as King George Beach and Knob Point.

If you're sailing in this part of the world, definitely don't miss the North Coast of Kangaroo Island.

To quote Carol on VMR American River (VHF ch. 21), when we checked into Western River Cove for the night, "God's country" :-)

I'll let others comment on Victorian anchorages, but in SA:

From south to north:

Robe Lake Butler Marina is a small marina with a fuel dock - and Robe is a lovely town with lots of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.
Just up the coast, Cape Jaffa Anchorage Marina is a large, modern marina with all the usual marina amenities, but no town to speak of.
Victor Harbor has no all-weather anchorage, but the north shore of Granite Island is used. (Caveat: I haven't anchored here.)
Kangaroo Island has 3 all-weather anchorages: Bay of Shoals (Kingscote), Christmas Cove (Penneshaw) and American River.
Antechamber Bay is another possibly on KI that offers protection from SE thru NW winds, although can be a bit uneasy with swell.
Further afield, Kangaroo aIsland lso has a bunch of coves on the North Coast that offer protection from most directions, except northerlies.
