To clear out of Australia, the boat needs to be Australian registered, unless the boat is for export. Registration fee is once off, approx 1500.
According to nz customs the boat has to be registered somewhere to leave australia. I can nz register my boat according to nz customs and maritime. Im happy hear this as when Kia Kaha is in NZ she will not be returning to Australia so it seems pointless to have aussie rego when all i want to do is clear aussie customs. The Nz rego lasts 5 years, then no need to renew and theres no regos in nz for boats atm. Also here up north moorings work differently. You actually pay for the seabed and you kind of own it. You dont not rent it from the Queen like in Australia
