Yes, pissatively possing down here in Syd, dark and overcast enough to confuse the cat who now thinks it is dinnertime.

I think the mid-north NSW coast is copping it worse than Sydney. Plenty of rain in the inner west, but nothing compared to what I was used to living in QLD.

Sunny here at Lake Macquarie atm

I'm stuck at Pt Macquarie. Was trying to go north, have been here for 5 days. I'm anchored in flooding Hastings River, on 60m of 10mm chain on a 45lb CQR. Conditions are downright scary. but anchor is holding so far. Winds and river current are way to strong to attempt motoring through - would be swept out through the (crazy) bar crossing. A big problem is adrift boats, wharfs, trees and pontoons from upriver crashing into my boat. Gale force Easterly at the moment. Hoping for conditions to ease on Wednesday.

Pt Macquarie all over the news at the moment. Sounds pretty unpleasant, I'm thinking you have wind against river flow as well so the river must be very bumpy at the moment. Hope you get some easing in conditions soon.

Yes, the river flow is holding me beam on to the wind. So, it's not that comfy...
It's too risky to try moving because if the prop hooks up on a branch or debris, there is no Plan B. Straight out across the bar!
All good, though. It's interesting watching all the items flowing past...

the amount of flood debris washing down has been massive, here at the Camden Haven all moored yachts have survived from what I've seen, some of the bigger yachts moored out in the stream have long lengths of oyster strings wrapped around the mooring lines.

I've moved upriver a bit because yesterday's easterlies were hammering the boat. I was close to the big public wharf. I am now moored in (that's in, not near...!) a picnic area. I'm close to the roof of a gazebo. It's not every day that one can anchor a 38 footer with a 2m draft in a reserve! And, I have 3m under the keel... It is nice and sheltered here, tho. I will be watching the receeding water carefully because it may be a tad embarrassing if my boat becomes a permanent feature of the park!

jbarnes85, thanks for that! I had no idea that the town was that flooded as I have been stuck onboard for a week. On 20th when this was filmed, it was the height of the flood, and before I found a bit of shelter upriver. My boat is (was) anchored in the middle of the channel then - it can just be seen in centre from 5:02 mins to about 5:20. Agreed, it wasn't a good place to be, but I wasn't prepared to try moving against the flow. I am solo, and would have needed crew for that. It was just too risky, because I only have a 30hp, and there is always the danger of fouling the prop - just when you don't need it...
Things seem to be settling now. The forecast is warm and sunny tomorrow (Wednesday). Great!

Over 900mm rainfall in the 5 days up to Monday, over 1000mm for the week, in the catchment area of Camden Haven river, similar for the Hastings, onto already sodden ground.

The Clarence river has started to fall, with a peak at Maclean of 2.6 above ? (LWS ? ) the vessels in the mooring field all faired well with all boats being attended by owners to some degree in the initial stages debris needed to be cleared and mooring lines scope extended, and here's the rub, if a mooring riser has a spliced eye simply dropped over the Sampson post when it loads up it's an issue to let go / add too, a few turns around the post then to a cleat or a lighter mans hitch makes life much easier
