Currently in Moreton Bay and the forecast is a bit shifty: currently ENE but is forecast to shift N then NW before it turns S and finally E again.

I am looking for a good overnight anchorage in N to W winds. Preferably in South Moreton.

I've looked at Raby Bay (good for W) but not sure if protected if the wind has any N in it.

Thank you!

G'day SV,
Horsehoe Bay on the south of Peel Island is a nice spot for Northerlys, you can go either way round the Island, less stressful to come around the Western side, Eastern side is nice but the channel is a bit narrow and can give you fluky gusts.

MSQ also now publish free the old Beacon to Beacon for SE Qld too, great resource if you're looking for some detail on the anchorages in and around sth Moreton Bay.

I apologise for the weather, first day of pretty decent rain for months , and forecast to hold in for a couple of days!

Horseshoe Bay is definitely on the list but now the forecast suggests the wind will shift WSW overnight before turning Southerly... I was looking at Raby Bay but if there is too much of a northern component to begin with, might have to sit it out a bit longer...

Thanks for the links! Great addition to the latest Beacon to Beacon I have.

No need to apologise, the rain was very welcome and gave the boat a good wash! Winds and swells haven't been strong at all which are the main factors for a comfortable anchorage!

Lazaret Gutter on the northern side of Peel if it's from the south.

If you dont want to move in the middle of the night you need to head down to caniapa passege or between Karagarra and Mc Clay islands. Can be a bit wind against tide but good holding and shelter pretty much round the compass.
