Hi all, I am looking for a mooring in the lane cove or Parramatta river and was wondering if there was a website or forum that lists moorings for sale that I may be aware of. Thanks in advance for your help

if you want a private mooring you need to apply to maritime
roads-waterways.transport.nsw.gov.au/maritime/moorings/private-moorings/index.html
a private individual can sell you the ground tackle but cannot sell or transfer the licence required to have a mooring in a particular location.

if you are looking to purchase ground tackle, such often advertised on gumtree, or try contacting your local mooring contractor

cheers,

I just went through the RMS process and it was pretty painless. Timing will depend on whether your chosen location has a wait-list and how my are on the list waiting.

Use the interactive map from the above link to look around your desired area. e.g. right now Tambourine Bay has no waitlist, but Woodford Bay has eight people waiting.

You can also see the date the last mooring was allocated to give you an idea of turnover and any other restrictions, e.g. length/draft.

Once RMS allocates the mooring you speak with the local Boating Safety Officer to get a 'mud map' of the location so the private mooring contractor can drop the apparatus in the correct location.

There are also timing restrictions on how long you have to accept an offer and then how long you have to get the boat on the mooring.

You can call 13 12 36 (Option #2) if you want to speak to a person. I found them very helpful.

Woodford Bay is the go. Usually short or no waiting list.

Not at the moment - there's 8 on the waitlist.
I'm happily moored opposite Woodford Bay and there was usually little or no wait in the Lane Cove River, but over the last 6-9 months there are now waitlists for all mooring areas from 'Humbug' at the mouth of the river up to Alexander Bay.
I'd reckon to check local conditions and access before committing. The local BSO is a good bloke and would help you with your selection I'm sure.
