I am looking at a boat with a gas cooktop and grill at Lake Macquarie, that has an obviously non-compliant gas installation. Where do I find the marine gas regulations for NSW? I did some searches but can't find anything. Any recommendations for a marine gasfitter at Lake Macquarie?

And yes I know the issues with gas on boats, so no need to start that debate. Thus the reason I am looking for a professional to make the installation compliant with whatever regs there are in NSW.

I am assuming gas bottles not in cabin and in a locker vented overboard, gas detector in the bilge and a gas solenoid/shutoff in event of a leak detected by the sniffer.

The AG601 standards are what you're after. check the lpg section on caravan and boats.

Yeah, but the boat may end up closer to you soon!

But I think the reality is the gas situation needs to be rectified before I close on the deal and take possession of the vessel. r13 has given me a contact for a gasfitter up that way, so will see how this plays out with the seller. I want it done properly.

And while the gasfitter is at the boat I will get him to plumb in a BBQ on the pushpit.
