Thats wonderful, ive taken a screenshot of the coordinates. Strange thing my mobile device wont open any pdf's from vic parks.
I am yet to explore port phillip, it would be fantastic to know where to find fresh water, good shopping and safe anchorages.
I have no swing mooring, therefore, no insurance, therefore, cant use marina.
I am thinking i be forced to build a relocatable contraption like oil rigs, mobile hardstand where i can lift the acro props and move when its not so choppy... even a floatable and towable mooring block sounds good.
Ive spent hours online trying to find out which jetty i can tie up to just so i can do some shopping but learnt very little if anything useful.

I guess, friendlier is Western Port. There are a few places with good shopping within
100m in San Remo jetty, 200m Hastings jetty /not a marina/.
Cowes and Rhyll, Flinders use dingy but you can stay days.
Port Phillip, I used to stay St. Kilda yacht club long jetty

Parks Victoria allows you to tie up to Seaford pier for 48 hours ( vessels should be attended)

Well what do we know? Engine started running evenly as i bled one cylinder then conked!! I go up to check the fuel theres what half inch left. I do 400km on 90liters and its beyond belief i used all of the 50 liters i started the trip from westernport. Damned with my head. As you know i had to pull up beside mornington, i checked the wind forecast before i figured this site showsdirection the wind is blowing not where it is comming from. So obviously i was getting up every couple of hours to stare at a bleak pile of stones below cliff not 25 meters from stern.~ stroke of luck found me looking side on to the rocks i never whipped out my jib sail that nifty i had but a few meters clear. Took a tack to clear the heads but wind was too poor to o beyond mt martha.. im hoping the swells cease so i can row tender twith jerry can..

Ive got some diesel in the tank.. in no condition to do much atm.
Such a big day since the anchor rope got sawn off.
I can see that jetty on google maps, im not fond of pylons buy it will do, i have storage unit i could walk from there.
I got some pm regarding places i could anchor in.. thats fantastic.
I checked out san remo from inside wp, didnt think i was gunna fit under the bridge its the fishing experience here looks superb compared
to what i suffered over there..
Main thing now, when i can get up again, is to flush sight glass and drain some juice out the main fuel line, then pressing the lever at fuel pump after undoing some nut! Then trying to crank whilst bleeding at top by head!!! See that would go

You have fuel Mangrove ? If you run into trouble I can get to you after work Monday if its any help OK .I charged up my old phone(lost my new one) so you can ring my mobile any time OK Might give you a ring now < could not get through
And I just realized I have a 20 liter army tin of Diesel here at home (Was on the boat when I bought her would be clean but do not know how old the diesel is, should be OK) if you need it Mangrovefrog let me know Ok

Hi Magroverog,
Sailing (Cruising) Port Phillip Bay.

Depending on your experience, Sailing/Cruising expectations and view of life Port Phillip Bay is either the best sailing area around or a real death trap and everything in between.

Positives:
The north of the bay is a sailors paradise, no reefs, and no obstructions. Just need to keep an eye out for a few fishing boats and on race days keep an eye out for the racers.

Safe harbours and anchorages at:
1.?Hobsons Bay ? Williamstown area. Cafe's Supermarkets, Clubs, Bars etc.. all services.
2.?Yarra River, Marinas with plenty of visitors berths. Call ahead or on the day. Free day berthing for lunch or fees applicable for overnight.
3.?Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, St Kilda Pier. New floating marina with visitors berths available. Also safe anchorage in the pond north of the marina.
4.?St Kilda Marina not recommended for sailing vessels, no depth at the entrance. Enter at your own risk.
5.?Royal Brighton Yacht Club, all weather safe harbour. Use visitors berths, no anchorage.
6.?Sandringham Yacht Club, limited visitor berths but marina staff very accommodating if approached and reasonable request for berthing made. Hampton pier available on first in first served, ParkVictoria managed and rules apply. Anchorage possible just north of permanent moorings in all conditions other than strong north west winds.
7.?Black Rock, near the historic wreck. Careful anchorage north of the pier. Careful tie up to the north end of pier also possible. Local knowledge, charts required for narrow channels in and out. Recommended for day stop. Swimming, beach, fish and chips shop on shore. Not for overnight stay.
8.?Beaumorris harbour good anchorage but exposed to southerlies.

Dangers:
Only a few reefs and all are well marked (I strongly recommend that all sailors familiarise themselves with their location and mark them on their GPS's). These reefs/rocks are located as follows:
1.?Point Cook reef north of the pier, care required no markers.

2.?Jawbone, from Altona to Williamstown, easily seen by markers and groups of fishing boats along the edges (Marine Sanctuary close to shore)

3.?Rocks at the south entrance to the St Kilda Marina ? Off Point Ormond. Cardinal marks.

4.?Bonnet Rock just south of the Brighton Yacht Club breakwater. Pilon marker.

5.?Yorkies Rock just south of Sandringham Yackt club. Isolated danger mark.

6.?Anonyma Reef south west of the Yorkies Rock. East and West cardinal marks.

7.?Rickets Point Marine Park. Special marks.

8.?Beaumoris harbour, and aquaculture farm. Cardinal Marks and special marks.


To come information for sailing and cruising the south of the bay will include details for:

Mordiallock, Mornington, Martha Cove, Dromona, Rosebud, Rye, Blairgowrie, Sorrento, The Entrance, Queenscliffe, Indented Heads, St Leornads, Portarlington, Geelong and Limeburners.

Also to follow my comments on the dangers of Port Phillip.

Met up with Mangrovefrog tonight after work down at Seaford pier the old Bukh is running sweet at the moment a fuel filter change and some Biocide I think she will be fine its not a bad yacht either only one meter draft

Yeah! Thanks HG02 for dropping off the army can of fuel, if i had $20 id have bought you a six pack, more for that few pointers on the bukh that id never would have figured. Took a few tries to actually get a pylon and the ladder on the fenders of seaford jetty, geez its a towering beast. I really thought thaf sign in the distance was a mcdonalds restaurant but wasnt but enough to find me half a chook and potato salad theres but room for 3/4 a slab...
Thats a great home warming, just a few pointers, directions and tales makes all the difference.
Ive never had this boat on the hard stand yet and i really need to get it up before long, theres some thruhulls, seacocks, anode and prop shaft bearing/seal needs attention.. not to mention a nice coat of (what i was gunna use a bucket of fijian chillies in a drum of sticky undercoat) antifoul...
Then my rigging sails has seen its day, im not sure the cost of overhaul, water leaking at bolts in bow to broken pulleys and clips and siezed parts.. poor mainsail n stuff... prolly better as the shallow draft dont make good sailing id lopp the lot and build a flybridged cabin with a toasty pot belly stove...
