I recently tried to put Spindrift on my Darling Point mooring. I had previously been allowed to put my Swanson 'Audacious' on it. See below. I was told that as Darling Point had now become a Priority mooring area with two applications waiting, I would have to put another boat there other than Spindrift. These did not suit me so I have chosen to relinquish the mooring.
It was laid by Treharne's Mooring Services. It is a bit sad, a a bit expensive and special. I had a buoy placed four feet under the water level which raised the chain to that level. My mooring line was then attached to the chain. This made it a lot easier to pick up the mooring singled handed.
The mooring apparatus may be onsold to the next applicant on the list if not I must remove it. Please email me if you can use it.

I don't understand why you couldn't transfer Spindrift onto that mooring?
A couple of feet of extra length doesn't look like it would be a problem?
Only problem would be if boat owners details don't match details on mooring licence, waiting list has nothing to do with it, your allowed to sell a boat and buy another one and put it on the mooring , as long as its appropriate for the location, with size of new vessel being the only consideration I can think of.

The way is was explained to me is: I put my Swanson on when it wasn't a priority mooring. I also had it on my Bundeena mooring at the same time, allowed. I cannot have the same boat on two priority moorings . I can have two mooring but with different boats.

Now both areas have wait lists, so the assumption is you have already transferred your Bundeena mooring to Spindrift. While trying to do the same at Darling Point they are saying that someone without a mooring has priority over you having two for the same boat. If that's the case I can see both sides, may not be the happiest outcome though.

Yes that is the case and I am not really complaining but the assumption is once you have paid for the mooring you will be able to keep it under the same terms. i.e. the same boat was allowed initially on both mooring but not any more if you sell your boat and buy another one.

John, I think your assumptions may be misplaced, It has been a rule for a long time that if you don't keep a boat on your registered mooring for a required length of time you will asked to relinquish it, especially if in a waitlist area. I would guess that even if you had not sold the previous boat, now that both areas are waitlisted you would have been asked to relinquish one of them. Pick the one you want is probably your option.

I think you may have slipped through the loop to start with, in nsw a vessel is alotted a mooring and only that vessel can use it. If you have more than one vessel you can have a mooring for each, but they must be on there alloted mooring. It's to stop people hogging scarce mooring licences. On the other hand if your a commercial operator it seems you can take over mooring grounds ie buy up the spots then lease them out

Funny how you sometimes get trapped by the corner cases. After getting approval for the first boat you just expect it is going to be OK when you change boats. Thanks for sharing your experience, all adds to the pool of knowledge.
