My LiFePO4 batteries turned up today - 6 weeks from China!!

Total Old AGMs weigh: 188Kg
Total New LiFePO4s weigh: 41Kg

I now will now have 580Ahs of usable power compared to 1/2 of 780Ah (390) with the AGMs

The Lithiums take up 2/3less room!!

I only got a bit over 5 years from my AGMs & I should get >3500cycles from the LiFePO4s = many years!!

Cost: AU$1282.56 delivered - cheaper than replacing AGMs

I did have to buy a Battery Monitoring System, a Lithium Charger & a power supply (pictured) to "Top Charge" them so as to convert to Lithium but still cheaper ............................................and better!!

Now I just have to wait till after lockdown to get them installed.

Thanks Keensailor!

Hey Lazz, looking good, sounds tempting. Can you post some links to the seller for your batteries please. Also, what are their specs, voltage per cell and a/h per cell etc, please? Also what BMS did you go for?

I got my batteries from here: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001563505796.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.e17f4c4d6QzUQY
But do a search on AliExpress or have a look at the links in the post that started it all for me: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Sailing/General/Lithium-batteries?page=1

See the pics below for some specs - if you want more PM me & I will email them to you.

I went with a Daly SMART LiFePO4/LFP 4 Cells (4S) 12V(12.8V) 250A BMS - Bluetooth & Balancing High Current Smart BMS - Cost me $265
I can run my 3500W inverter with this one as long as I don't max it out!!

When lockdown ends Laz, I want to look over your stuff. Your Raspberry Pi setup and now the self made Lithiums. You are a trailblazer.

You're more than welcome Kankama - Dunno about the trailblazer stuff!!

It was you who set me off on this lithium stint - thanks for that.

Whereabouts are you? I'm at Kooroora Bay.

Well, I got them in & all running as should - 150kg lighter, more amp hours & more room!!

Old batteries were stacked in 3 levels
I used the bottom level for storage of spare inverter, alternators, water pump etc

The middle level now has 2 40a battery chargers - these are not for lithium & will only be used to speed up charging & then turn off & leave it to the Lithium charger.

Just a comparison 780Ah (400 usable) with AGMs against 560Ah (550 usable) Lithium
