I looked at how one guy went to the mast after the strike and paid no attention the the guy blown overboard.

A fair bit of lightning on the East coast at the moment.
With a storm approaching, should you isolate your switchboard and batteries to prevent damage from a strike?
Would it even help?

I havent any experience in boat lightning strikes but we did get a direct strike on our house.
The inductance was great enough to fry lightweight wires in an rj45 network cable running an 8m span.
I had 2 pc's behind ups boxes and 1 just behind a surge protector, both systems behind the ups were fine, both ups dead, surge protector isnt designed to stop such an event so not surprising it failed and all items in that pc dead.
I would think yes, the most isolation you can achieve the better.
Side note, whole 2 story block house seemed to shake with the blast, I used to laugh at the dog hiding under the dining table, I now realise he was the smart one, I hope to never experience one on a boat !
