I just thought I might start a thread on what looks like a great little race - the last of the affordable ones. The safety is Cat 3+, it's run under AMS and PHS, and it still gets a bunch of 30 footers, a 27 footer and now a 22 foot Mini Transat.

There's a good yacht tracker on the site so you can keep an eye on a bunch of the sort of boats we can own as they race down the east coast.

This race is definitely on my bucket list now that the Sydney to Hobart is just a big-boat fest. The last time we had anything like this in NSW was in the early 2000s when the Sydney-Batemans Bay race was on. It was a cracker of an event.

It will be good to see how this race develops. I reckon there is a market for this type of racing but the main clubs don't seem interested. I did the Pittwater - Coffs race in the early 2000s and it was good with a variety of boats. Not anymore I believe.

It'll all be fine till the trophy hunters move in and wreck it.

there are some go boats among that fleet as well !! but there are one or two older style 1/2 tonners in the fleet .

yachting in tassi is very popular. some unsubstantiated claim that there is more sailors per capita springs to mind ?

Now there is an entry list I can get excited about. There is a Hobie 33. I can never understand why more people have not imported these. Fairly cheap to buy, sea worthy, trailable.

Parkster, looks like a great day for sailing, so why aren't the sails up in your boat?

One of the half tonners, Lawless, is doing splendidly; only a few miles behind a Sydney 38 and a Benny 40.7. The Supersonic 27 at the back is now rolling along well. Great to see affordable and tough little boats racing offshore.
