I've have all Lin and Larry's books. I got their philosophy of cruising and in the fullness of time they were right. 'Go simple go early' .
Anchored in Suva off the yacht club in 1997 I realised there were two types of cruising people: the sabbatical 'get it done in some time off' types and the longer term cruisers who kept things simple. I even liked the engineless philosophy the Pardey's espoused; after all sailors had done this for many centuries.
Each to his own though, but the Pardey's did it their way and after all; they've done more sea miles than most of us have had hot dinners.
Larry was very particular but he was also generous.
