I'm considering cruising my boat up from Port Hacking around early December, for a bit of work & leisure. I intend putting her on the hard stand at Marmong for a few days to try out my new sander and dust extractor on smoothing the AF.
Now can some locals advise how the channel dredging is going, please?
My boat draws 1.95 metres.

The dredging came to a standstill when the contractor died but it has recommenced recently & is still in progress. It was supposed to be finished for the Oct long w/end.

There was a boat grounded last weekend but it should be OK by early December - I would give MR Lake Macquarie a ring 02 4971 3498 as the time gets closer to get an update.

Try to time your entry with some big tides to make it easier.

The dredge arrived, started work and quickly broke down. Currently waiting on spare parts.....As Lazz says, stay in touch with MR.Come through the channel 2-3 hours after high tide at Newcastle, which will give max depth and slack water in the channel.

Just check with Marmong as last time I was there I couldn't stay onboard overnight!

You are right, Marmong doesnt allow you to overnight on the hardstand. There is accommodation available in Toronto which is roughly 10 or 15 minutes drive away.

Thanks all for the advice on the Channel, I came through a couple of months ago in my brothers cruiser, so at least I have an idea of the entrance. I can imagine slack water would be advised going through the bridge at Swansea. My bro's boat is still at the mariner, so accomodation is close at hand!
I'll check the tides around the 14th December!
