Sorry for the rubbish picture taken from resolute beach today. This mast looks quite bent back with the headsail lying along the mast. Why would that be?

It looks to me as if the forward mast is actually slightly raked forward then the top of it is pulled backwards giving the mast a bow in it, don't know why it's like that, if it was done on purpose, or if someone has attempted to rake the mast backwards by tightening up on the back stay, weird

Photo is not clear enough to see the rigging. Looks to me like there is an inner forestay, and it has been over-tensioned. The description says the headsail lying along the mast, could also mean a failed forestay, giving the same effect.

Because that's how it was when I bought her. The mast was built with the rake. Not something you see these days?

Other thing concerned people like to tell me is that I have something hanging off the front of my boat. It is an over sized burley pot I use to attract bream. A strange device used to exchange stale bread and food scraps for fresh fish!!!

Very interesting. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about all types of sailing boats . Do you happen to know why the rake? I have read an opinion that all masts should rake back as winds strike the surface at around 6 degrees. Cheers
