Can anyone help me out with insurance for 1979 Arends. Some insurers say it is too old? Cheers

Club Marine knocked me back. Things change?

Try Anchorage Marine. They will probably need an out of water survey from a qualified and certified marine surveyor, and the standing rigging to be less than 10 years old - documented proof of both.

Was 2 years ago and the yacht was in a pen at FSC. Your not on a mooring or above the 26th parallel?

I'll give the same answer as always - chat to the guys at Tudor insurance and see what they can do for you.

They've been able to cover some very cheap, very old boats on swing moorings without survey, all organise over the phone. Usually through QBE.

1977 Walker H28 on a swing mooring,
Tudor Insurance brokers handle my insurance, I believe QBE Insurance are the underwriters

QBE. They will insure anything. Without a survey.

Just be aware though, Pantaenius policies don't cover single handing after sunset/before sunrise.

Didn't know that. They did cover me going to LHI short handed without increasing the premium and a only a minor increase in excess.

Anything is insurable for the right about of money

I tried to insure a boat through QBE once, It was just a 21' trailer boat. The questioning and processes I had to go through left me wondering if they even knew what a trailer boat was. I didn't go through with it in the end and went with Club Marine.

I have tried several over the years (including Pantaenius, and thought they had good cover), but I've always ended back with CM....
