Is there anyone in the Sydney area you would recommend to do the job?

But before the below text see at this link prior comms on wind insts which you would be aware of - I posted some comments as did you..........

So as regards your post above I asked our on board "spark" who responded - abridged version as below trust it might be of use. Lightning fried one of our Raymarine hull transmitters

I spoke to these guys during my research. They were also the ones who sold me the reconditioned Raymarine Hull Transmitter when the previous one got fried by the apparent lightning strike.

You could also suggest he look at the Yacht Devices website (I had email correspondence with one of their tech guys, who was also very helpful: www.yachtd.com/).

Tell him to consider getting data to tablets/PCs rather than being locked in to proprietary display units.

I would also suggest he talk to the blokes at 2dogsmarine

It is realised that 2dogsmarine are at Airlie Beach - but they probably are working with companies in Sydney who they can recommend.........

It's interesting though with the open source Signal K capabilities, I'll definitely keep an eye on this. The Signal K website lists this page with links to various hardware and software solutions: signalk.org/solutions.html

As well as the iKommunicate device, that page list includes another device from vYachyt: vyacht.net/opencart/n2k-wifi

It's not as expensive + it has a wifi module built in, unlike the iKommunicate which needs a separate wifi module added. Have you checked it out, what do you think?

The other pic is some of the info available on my Signal K - where the Instrument Panel, & everything else, gets its info.

All very interesting stuff!!

Hahaha - retired yes, astronaut no!!

I just like to keep busy - I recon I'm a candidate for losing my marbles so I like to keep my brain active.
